Hi Aunty. My friends are complaining as when they receive my emails it is in the text font style “Lucida Handwriting” which they find almost impossible to read, yet I have sent it out in “Comic Sans MS”. This has only happened since I changed to Windows 10. I have deliberately not altered the text on this email, so that you can see my dilemma. Can you help please?

How odd Margaret. Your email shows up fine on my Windows laptop so I can only think that the devices that your friends are using to read your emails don’t know the font “Comic Sans MS” and therefore the device goes off and uses something similar. The MS at the end of “Comic Sans MS” stands for Microsoft, so if your friends are using a non Windows device (an Apple or Android phone or tablet for example) there’s a distinct possibility the font it replaces it with is “Lucida Handwriting”. Maybe try a few other non MS fonts and see what happens.

Can you help me with a “long running script” message on my laptop? I run IE (Internet Explorer on my ACER laptop and use yahoo.co.uk as my homepage. The “long running script” message interrupts my computer several times daily. I can’t figure out what to do to get rid of it so can you help?

Hello Vince. I’m not 100% sure about this but probably the easiest thing would be to download Google’s Chrome browser. I think support & development for Internet Explorer has long been discontinued, so maybe there is some script running on the Yahoo page that cannot work with IE as it is too old.

Hi Aunty. From what I believe I am not the only one with this problem. Ever since changing to Windows 10 I can no longer burn discs. It looks like everything is burning OK then when I look at the disc it is still empty. I have tried various options but always the same. I also downloaded Express Burn and again the same thing happened, it looked like it was burning but the disc remains blank. I never had any problems with Windows 7 and I Just want to burn some music tracks but it is becoming a life’s work!

Hello David. Have you tried the built in Windows Media Player app? Type MEDIA PLAYER into the search box (by the Start button) and there is a “burn” button top right. Maybe try some different discs and also give the DVD drive lens a quick blow when the door is open. Apart from this, uninstalling and reinstalling the DVD drive drivers via device manager is the only thing I can think of. Let me know how you get on.
