Car crime spree in Elche

A man was arrested at dawn on Saturday last by the Local Police in Elche, suspected of a spate of vehicle break-ins in the vicinity. Shortly before 5.30am, the local police Operations Centre received an alert that a suspicious man had hit several parked vehicles with a hammer.
A night patrol was dispatched and officers located the suspect, who was carrying a hammer as well as a bag full of other tools. Searching the scene, officers also discovered a number of other tools hidden nearby, including a compressor and an angle grinder. Officers suspected that some of the larger tools had been stolen from one of the nearby vehicles and on inspection, they discovered that as many as 13 cars had been broken into.
The 35-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
