The Valencian Community will be applying restrictions Christmas gatherings if necessary, it has emerged. The Minister of Health warns that an increase in social interactions could generate an “uncontrolled situation” after the festive season.
It has already been announced in Catalonia for the forthcoming festive season that ‘restrictions of 6’ will be in place for social and family gatherings at Christmas. It emerged this week that the Valencian Community will look at applying similar rules in order to prevent the holiday season spiralling into an “uncontrolled situation” in terms of transmission of the virus. The news comes after remarks made by Valencian Minister for Health, Ana Barceló, when she visited Vega Baja Hospital this week. Asked if the Valencian government were considering imposing similar restrictions on family gatherings at Christmas, Barceló said that “obviously” they are going to look at the situation to see what measures should be implemented in order to prevent Christmas gatherings causing a grave health situation.
