Young unemployed help on the beaches

The Orihuela Councillor for Employment Promotion, Víctor Valverde, has welcomed 24 unemployed young people from the municipality who will carry out information and support tasks on the beaches of Orihuela Costa this summer. The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor, José Aix and the councillors for Human Resources, Luisa Boné and Tourism, Mariola Rocamora.
The scheme was carried out through the Auxiliares de Playas Employment program and is aimed at young people over 18 years of age and under 30.
Councillor Valverde explained: “We have received a grant of 107,000 euros, to which 51,000 euros more than the funds of the council. These young people will serve for three months, in different work shifts, from Monday to Sunday. They will receive an online training course where they will learn tourism or essential lifeguard support. In addition, we have guided them on what will be the functions they have to perform.”
The helpers will carry out COVID-19 information tasks, especially information on access control and capacity of the beaches, ensuring compliance with the measures contained in the regulations of the Ministry of Health, as well as the provisions contained in the Plans of Safety, Rescue and Contingency. They must also inform and guide users who access the beach of the warnings and communications that may be issued in matters of emergencies and civil protection.
It will also be the role of the new assistants to inform the Local Police of any incidents or actions carried out during the working day and they will carry out tasks of auxiliary help or collaborations under the direction of the Local Police or, where appropriate, the Tourism services of the Town Hall.
