Local Police clamp down on street dumping

Local Police in Orihuela Costa continues with its campaign against the deposit of garden pruning and belongings on public roads, in breach of the Municipal laws. To tackle the growing problem authorities have implemented a public information campaign, surveillance patrols and as a last resort monetary fines those who break the rules.
“A maximum of 1 cubic meter of pruning can be deposited on public roads, this must be bagged and prior notice has to be given to the cleaning service so that it can arrange collection,” explained the Councillor for Citizen Security, Antonio Sánchez. The Councillor once again asked residents to “comply with the regulations to solve this historical problem suffered by our municipality.”
In the last month, the Local Police have imposed fifty fines on residents for dumping in the street.
The Councillor also announced that the Local Police patrol now has a specialised surveillance drone to increase effectiveness and identify offenders.
