Added security for the coast through the summer


Orihuela Town Hall has presented the security detail for the summer season in Orihuela Costa. Carolina Gracia, Mayor of Orihuela, Antonio Sánchez showed the officers off to the press and public at Playa Flamenca Promenade. Local Police, Civil Protection and Ambumar, the company in charge of rescue and first aid on the beaches of Orihuela, all participated in the presentation.
Carolina Gracia, Mayor of Orihuela, said:“Our coast is a fundamental part of Orihuela and we have to continue improving the services that the administration offers, for residents and for tourism. In fact, we already have a new space such as the Orihuela Costa Security and Emergency Center that already has services and that we will soon see how they are expanded.”
Antonio Sánchez, Councilor for Citizen Security explained that “with this initiative, as in previous years, what is intended is to reinforce and guarantee security in Orihuela Costa so that both residents and tourists who visit us feel completely safe on the streets and on our beaches.
The Maritime Police with 4 officers and 2 jet skis will provide a daily sea patrol services across the summer season. They will cover the whole of the Orihuela coast, in direct contact with the Local Police and Ambumar to coordinate any actions, both at sea and on the sand.
Officers assigned to the bicycle service will patrol the coastal area from Punta Prima to Mil Palmeras, including the beaches, promenade and adjacent traffic areas with patrols carried out both by bicycle and on foot.
The rescue and lifeguard service is provided on the 11 beaches of Orihuela with lifeguards and health emergency technicians. These are supported by a rapid intervention vehicle, an SBV ambulance, a boat and are coordinated by the Local Police.
