Alicante building voted ugliest

The pyramid building in Alicante has been voted the ugliest building in Spain. The triangular Montreal building, known locally as “La Pirámide” was built in 1968 by Elda architect Alfonso Navarro. It is one of the most symbolic buildings of the city and is usually included in lists of architectural aberrations.
Despite its divisive design, the 25 storey yellow building is popular among residents. “We live very well here. The rooms are large and the views are wonderful,” said one resident.
‘La Pirámide’ is not the only building in the province criticised in the survey. The Intempo building in Benidorm and the Gran Sol hotel, in Alicante also made the ugly building list.
