Age Concern has begun to hand out their Christmas hampers to beneficiaries
at their centre in la Siesta. On Tuesday 5 th December those receiving their
hamper of tea time treats included Pam Creasey, Glenys Doyle, Joan
Sugden, Ella Blacknall, Ann King, Carmen and Ken Jenkins and Joyce. Each
hamper contained a variety of items including a bottle of wine, biscuits,
panattone and chocolates.
The presentation was in front of countless friends in the packed centre at
Calle Paganini in La Siesta. The daily coffee mornings are a very popular
facility provided by the centre which has an incredible reputation for being
welcoming. This is particularly important for those who are new to the area.
Pam Creasey was one of those receiving a hamper and for her Age Concern
has been a lifeline. Pam reached an all time low after becoming a widow.
Feeling lonely and that no one cared about her, joining Age Concern rescued
her from loneliness and desolation.
Pam is not the only one that has found Age Concern to be essential to their
wellbeing. The charity offers an open invitation for anyone of 50 years old and

Tattoo and piercing studio, Black Cat Ink, has come out in support of the Tasha Appeal, raising
funds for Tasha Lynch’s Mitochondrial fund. Owner Gregg told the Costa Blanca People, “Like
many on the Costa Blanca, Black Cat Ink in has been really touched by hearing of The ‘Tasha
Appeal’ and yet also so warmed when hearing of all the great things locals in our community
are doing to raise money to help out. We have placed collection buckets around the la Finca
resort and really want to finish our collections with some Christmas cheer and invite you ALL to
join us on our last Walk In Wednesday before Christmas, for the willing there will be a
selection of small Tats for Tasha available – but more importantly just a show of support with a
Local Brass Band and some warm Christmas Mulled wine would be a great way to show We as

ASOKA as they hold their 7 th Annual Christmas
Concert "STAR" in aid of the very deserving ASOKA ANIMAL
RESCUE in Orihuela. The concert starts at 7pm. It's full of
wonderfully emotional moments as the rescue looks back over
its year of saving and rehoming over 1000 abandoned animals
of the area. Created by Nick Moore it’s full of Christmas

El Corte Inglés has thrown down the gauntlet to on-line shopping giant Amazon by extending its ‘delivery in under two hours’ service in the run up to Christmas and the Three Kings festivities.
The national department store chain has extended its Click&Express online shopping service to almost all its centres so that customers can enjoy almost immediate delivery of goods, within a two-hour timeline, to suit the customer.
From Friday onwards this service is now available in 53 towns and cities across Spain, covering over 830 postcodes and a total of 18 million people. El Corte Inglés becomes the first company to offer this online service in all the main Spanish cities, a direct challenge to multinational Amazon, which recently introduced its Prime Now service in Madrid and Barcelona.
El Corte Inglés clients have the choice of over 150,000 products in the company’s virtual catalogue, including fashion, accessories, perfumes, cosmetics, homeware, technology, electrical appliances, and Gourmet Experience products, and they can have their chosen goods delivered to their home within two hours of placing the order, or delivered in a pre-determined time slot of their choice.
The store emphasised that product availability would vary from place to place and according to stock levels at the time of ordering. The most popular products on the Click&Express service are mobile phones, laptops, tablets, wines, spirits, beer and other drinks, Club del Gourmet products, cameras, video games, electrical appliances and small household goods.
Customers will be able to see the status of their order at all times thanks to a real-time geo-location system. The service will cost 7.90 euros per delivery, including in the Canary Islands.
